Couples Meditation

Couples meditation is an interesting phenomenon in my personal opinion. It is a given that meditation is a personal act and something one can do alone or in a group. It is not typically done as a couple but I am sure many couples have tried it as people who want to share with their partner would typically want to share things that make them happy with their loved ones. I have also done this with my partner. I feel like all couple should try it.

What is the big deal you ask. Honestly there is no big deal, for some couple it may not make a difference, but for some it may not. Of course unless you try it for yourself you will never know how it may affect you. The reason I promote couples meditation is because it can bring two people together in a way that transcends words and even actions. Sitting in silence and occupying the same space with your partner can have huge benefits.

Of course you can also meditation while holding hands or having you knees or some body parts in physical contact which can promote connection and a deeper bond with your partner. I would recommend starting by sitting across from each other and holding hands as you begin the meditation. You will feel the warmth and touch of your partner and it should make you feel safe and connected. If this become uncomfortable you can let go of your partners hands.

You can sit very close and have your knees, feet, toes or any part of your body be in contact, or just stay within touching reach of your partner, sometime just the knowledge that you are that close and can reach out whenever you need to might be enough. The goal is to get to a state of relaxation and calmness within your mind and having your partner close to you may help facilitate that. Explore the possibility and see where it may lead you.

If this is not for you, then no harm no fowl. Meditation can be performed in many ways and in many locations, by yourself or in groups. The goal is to keep meditating in whatever form it takes and you will see a difference in the person you want to be. Your friends and family will also notice a difference. So please keep it going.

Well fingers crossed that this will work for me in calming myself and finding that inner peace.
