Channeling Light to Restore Flow
Reiki is a Japanese technique that facilitates healing by guiding universal life force energy through the hands or intention. It promotes deep relaxation, emotional release, and the restoration of energetic balance.
Reiki (霊気) translates to “spiritually guided life energy.” Developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, Reiki is both a healing art and a spiritual practice. It is based on the idea that life force energy flows through every living being. When this energy becomes low or blocked, physical or emotional imbalances can occur. Reiki aims to clear those blockages and support the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
A Reiki session typically involves the practitioner placing their hands lightly on or just above the recipient’s body. There is no manipulation or physical pressure. Instead, the focus is on intention and presence, allowing energy to flow where it’s most needed. Some people feel warmth, tingling, or waves of emotion during a session, while others simply experience a deep sense of calm.
Reiki can be used to complement traditional medicine, relieve stress, promote recovery, and support emotional processing. It is non-invasive and safe for all ages and conditions. The beauty of Reiki lies in its simplicity, it doesn’t require belief, only openness. The energy flows regardless of expectation, meeting each person exactly where they are.
As a personal practice, Reiki can also be learned through attunements offered by certified teachers. Once attuned, individuals can perform self-Reiki or offer healing to others. Beyond hands-on healing, Reiki teaches principles for mindful living: gratitude, trust, honesty, compassion, and presence. It is as much about being a clear channel as it is about offering light to others.
